Cover and editorial design for Fernanda Takai’s fifth solo
álbum. O Tom da Takai pays
homage to famous Brazilian musician Tom Jobim and 60 years of Bossa Nova. The
cover illustrates a meeting between a bird and a carp, alluding to Tom Jobim’s
music and Takai’s voice. The simple, loose strokes result in a light synthetic
drawing aesthetic, in a direct semiotic link with bossa nova. The typesetting
is another essential element in the design, historically found on bossa nova
albums, playing a pivotal role in creating a minimalist and sophisticated
language.
